A Tragic Double Murder Has A Lasting Impact

There was no clues of the horrors to come on February.19.1997, in the quiet, upper middle class neighborhood overlooking the San Pablo bay, the Abernathy’s called Home. Neal had taken the day off to take his son Brendan to a couple of appointments that day. Brendan was a bright twelve year old with his whole life ahead of him, with so much to look forward to, or so it seemed. Susan was at work that day. None of them could have foreseen the horrors that would come to that idyllic neighborhood, one that would forever be scarred by a brutal double murder.

In the Afternoon Susan had talked to Neal and even then everything was normal, or so it seemed. But when Susan came home to find the door, partially opened, it became apparent things were far from normal. She was greeted by the family dog. But once she walked into the living room, she was faced with a horrific reality, the sight of her husband and son bound with electrical tape, and shot in the back of the head, execution style.

What kind of monster brutally murders a Father and Son?

Twenty six years later, and still there is no lack of speculation but twenty six years later and still killers walk free, while others speculate on Sue’s guilt, though if anyone knew her the way I do, they would know that’s just not in her character.
