My Earnings Took A Nose Dive
And I’m Not Going Anywhere
In my five and a half years on Medium, I have never seen Medium as a full-time income or believed those who claimed you could make 10k a month. As I earned extra money, I was able to buy a few extra chicken packages and cereal boxes for the food pantry, or take advantage of Day-O’s smoothies on occasion. Medium has always been a place for me to share my stories, my faith, my life.
I wouldn’t be honest if I said I hadn’t been disheartened by the drop in my earnings, because my earnings have dramatically decreased; however, I am not giving up on Medium or myself. Because I was writing long before I earned anything for it, I don’t write solely for money. I write to share a message. A good portion of my writing is kind of my personal fight against Ableism and to educate others, whether fiction or nonfiction, so I know it has reached someone if the piece makes a reader rethink much of society’s idea of treating those with disabilities as second class citizens, even better.
