No Stone Unturned, No Promise Intact
The challenge was to write a poem that concludes with the lines “No Stone left unturned, no promise left intact.”
You carried
With you
Shiny promises
Of who you were
Who
You would be
Beautiful promises
That didn’t tell
The full story.
Your words
Echoed gentle
At first
Pretty promises
Shimmered to perfection.
But words are only
As strong
As the person
Speaking them
My heart echoes
No Stone left unturned,
No promise left
Intact.
The promises you
Had polished so neatly
Shined to perfection
You threw to the ground
Shattering my heart
Like a fragile glass.
No stone left unturned,
No promise left intact.
