Priortizing My Needs
Perhaps not What You Think
From My Day One Journal
August.02.2024
It has felt like I’ve been burning the candle at both ends for the past few months, but I realized I needed to take a step back on some things, but one thing I really enjoy is preserving the history of our Church, because when you have a Church that’s 170 years old, you don’t want to take that for granted.
These old photos and files remind me of the power of prayer. Digging through old pictures dating back over a century isn’t everyone’s idea of relaxing, but for me it works, and it allows me to better understand this place I call my Church home.
Of course prayer is another part of that, the prayer has helped me in those crazy times, when I have felt overwhelmed by the craziness that can be life!
Looking at the photos and the files, I’m reminded of how two women kept the Church alive in the 1930s, as well as the colorful pastor riding his mule around sharing the Gospel.
In 1950, the original sanctuary burned to the ground, but people from all over California and beyond wanted us to preserve the history of the Church and rebuild it.
What does any of this have to do with how I prioritize my needs? Taking a look through our Church’s history is a way of winding down, and reminding me of a simpler time, and a slower pace.
