Jack smiled awkwardly. Once he was gone, I opened all the drawers and cupboards as I frantically searched. Stopping for a moment, I touched the scar down my right cheek. It stung whenever I moved but now it was slowly fading away because my body was getting used to its changes. I worked diligently as Jack’s green eyes haunted my memories. I began to wonder if he had ruined other young eighteen-year-old girls’ lives. I coughed. The burning smell drifted around the room.
