Sapphire’s Slip-Up Chapters, Four, Five, Six

Chapter Four:
I was being moved to the rehab floor, which meant the focus was now on getting me to learn to accept what had happened while working on the goals that would help me become more independent. I was fitted with braces for hands, that was meant to help me feed myself. One of those braces allowed me to hold a spoon, or fork, so I could eat, the process was neither graceful or neat, but I was slowly relearning to feed myself.
I was learning to use a battery powered chair as well, which was giving me a little more freedom. I was determined to learn to push myself in a manual wheelchair as well, but I had a long way to go, I knew that.
My dreams of walking again had been crushed when I had learned the severity of my injuries, and what that meant to the likelihood of me walking again, that is not to say I gave up, I knew that God was ultimately in control. And I was thankful for that, but I had to learn to make new goals, and work towards them.
One of those goals was to be able to wheel myself to receive my diploma, in the smaller manual chair, it didn’t sound like a big deal at first, but I was coming to realize that it was a big deal, but it was something to reach for, and I was determined to succeed. I did not want to give in, besides focusing on goals helped me to deal with the crushing pain of the losses. Working towards goals helped me…
