Chapter Forty Six:

There are times when you have to look beyond the shadows in order to find beauty and hope. I knew I couldn’t live in fear, where what had happened defined every aspect of my life. Pain and loss would always be there for me, but joy was also necessary. I had to allow myself to feel and see the joy, not just the sorrow. In spite of everything that happened, I have a lot to be grateful for. I have my sister, I have my life, and I am beyond grateful for that!

“I am tired of him controlling our lives. I don’t want him to win like that.” I told Deliah. As we sat around the table looking at family photos, we knew that even though our lives weren’t perfect, we were loved, even if we didn’t recognize it.

“It’s time we regain control, or better yet give it all to God, because this is exhausting.”

I nodded in agreement the truth was this was tiring. The phone calls, the cryptic messages, the not so veiled threats. Because I had the light of the Lord, I no longer had to fear what lurked in the shadows!

“It is really exhausting. We could use that energy to turn something positive out of this.”

“That sounds good, but I don’t know how to get started.” Deliah said.
