Chapter Four:

I couldn’t shake the feeling that he was following and somehow enjoying what he had done. I had seen it in his eyes, in the line up, and it was evident in what he had attempted to do. The masks that had become part of our daily lives could not hide the face of evil. While on a COVID lockdown, getting into a hospital was not easy, it was a miracle that they were even able to treat me, with the cases rising and the ugly reality that was COVID 19.

My imagination ran wild being alone so much, but maybe it wasn’t so wild after all, because I had been hurt once, someone had tried to kill me in a supermarket parking lot on a beautiful sunny day. The day quickly turned dark due to the actions of a madman.

I was isolated in the hospital, and at times I felt as if we were in a prison, able to see our loved ones onlyI wanted to see my sister in person, and she also wanted to, as she used to wait in the hospital parking lot all day in case she finally received the news that she would be able to see me.

In the aftermath of what happened to me, I spent my days trying to come to terms with what happened. Had it been an accident, things might have been different. However, I was shot intentionally by a madman.
