Shadows that Lurk in the Light: Chapter Thirty Nine
Shadows
Chapter Thirty Nine:
Shadows
Shadows loom over you after a violent loss, the way we lost our parents, the way he nearly took my life, and the threats whispered and shouted were all dark shadows looming over us. No matter what happened, we had something bigger than what had happened to us. We had a faith that had saved us time and time again, and we had the love of Jesus who had died for us.
Even though our faith was tested time and time again, it had never crumbled. We knew that we needed to stay strong, and we knew that no matter what happened, it would always be God who would see us through, Jesus who we would turn to time and time again.
Deliah and I would not have been able to survive all that we did without our faith, we could not have made it through as well as we did. Our faith and each other could not have helped us survive without each other and without each other, we couldn’t have been strong.
He still tried to destroy us, the man who had stolen so much from us, but we refused to let him have our faith. I had almost lost my life when he shot me in front of an almost deserted grocery store in the midst of a world wide pandemic, but he wouldn’t destroy who we were.
