Shadows that Lurk in the Light Chapter Thirty One
Chapter Thirty One:
You can feel fine one moment and weighed down the next by grief, both Deliah and I experienced those emotions simultaneously. Although we were carrying a heavy load, the Lord lightened our load as we learned to navigate the grief we had been holding back for too long. Previously, we had lost our parents, but instead of grieving, we were angry at them for leaving us on purpose.
Our day-to-day lives were being adjusted to a new normal, navigating a life where we knew our parents had been murdered by the same man who had tried to kill me. But knowing we could lean on the Lord could help.
“Trace, how do we proceed?” Deliah asked with obvious frustration and hurt.
“We just have to take it day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment.” I replied.
“We know the evil that lurks in the shadows, an evil that doesn’t care if it’s day or night, it lurks in the shadows and sometimes it lurks in plain sight.”
Delilah was right, evil lurked in the shadows. We couldn’t pretend that evil didn’t exist because we had survived it. We had to stop ourselves from becoming so cynical that we could not see the good in the world.
