Shadows that Lurk in the Light: Chapter Thirty Six
Chapter Thirty-Six:
It would be an understatement to say Deliah and I were terrified to face the monster who had taken our parents from us and nearly killed me. We wanted to avoid him, but our parents deserved justice as did his other victims. Fear would not stop us from pursuing justice.
“Sometimes, I’m not sure I can do this.” Trace confessed. Fear not, that Biblical reminder, was a push we both needed. But to say it was easy would be a lie, because we were going to be facing a human monster.
“We can’t do it alone.” I said gently. “But we have Jesus, and we have each other.”
Deliah smiled weakly and nodded. I tried to be brave for her, but the thought of facing the man who had taken our parents away terrified me. My sister couldn’t worry any more than she already was.
“I wish I had your Faith.” Tracey said. “Even though you were hurt, I’m leaning on you.”
You were the one caring for me when I first came home from the hospital. As you still do, I couldn’t go home to my place, so you welcomed me in.”
“Trace, you did the same for me. If it weren’t for you, I would have been put into foster care.” She trailed off, admitting our parents were murdered was still hard.
