Shadows that Lurk in the Light: Chapter Thirty Two:
Chapter Thirty Two:
This wasn’t my sister’s fault, not the murder of my parents, or the gunshot that left me paralyzed, it was all part of that madman’s plan to destroy as many people as he could.
There were a lot of good things about Deliah, and she was a beautiful person from the inside out. Having a good sister, who always went out of her way to make sure I was ok, was such a blessing.
“We’re going to learn how to navigate this, Deliah. It’s something we’ve been doing for awhile, but now we have to deal with the reality of what really happened to our parents.”
“Trace, I know, and I know it’s just as hard for you, but until we got that call, we didn’t even think that our parents were murdered. The note did what it was supposed to do, it threw us off.”
He played this game with us intentionally to prolong our hurt and pain, so I nodded. But we weren’t going to give him anything more than he already had. He wasn’t getting that kind of satisfaction from us. Instead, we’d make him think we were okay, even though we weren’t.
“It’s hard, but we’ve been through hard things before and survived.” I reminded Deliah. “We’ll get through this too.”
