Shadows that Lurk in the Light-Chapter Twenty Seven

After learning what happened to our parents, or rather, the likelihood of what happened to them, I was tired of nightmares and nightmare dreams. Often I prayed for those nightmares to disappear, to not haunt so many of my dreams, since the nightmares led to a poor night’s sleep, and that wasn’t exactly what I needed, it was the energy I had to get through the day, that gave me the strength to overcome the obstacles that came my way.

Reading the word before bed often allowed me to sleep better, to be more comfortable, but it didn’t mean I never had nightmares; it just meant I had them less often, which gave me more days to function normally.

Psalm 119:17–24

17 Be good to your servant while I live,

that I may obey your word.

18 Open my eyes that I may see

wonderful things in your law.

19 I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me.

20 My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.

21 You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands.

22 Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes.
