She Hides the Tears

She doesn’t say

The words aloud

But she’s afraid

Her hands clasped

In the dark of the night

She thinks of life before.

The laughter

The tears

The good times and the

Bad.

The doctor gave

Her the news

Not long ago

Life changing

Take you to

Your knees

And pray you

Get back again

Life changing.

She hears the

Whispers

The hushed tone

As she clings

On to the one

Constant

Faith.

It’s hard to

Understand when

A life changes

Is flipped

Upside down

With the utterance of a word.

She’s scared

She doesn’t want to

Admit it.

She doesn’t want

To show it

But she’s scared.

She hides the tears

Crying in the darkness

Of the night

Shaking her fist

To the sky

Asking God why.
