She Ripped the Facade

--

Image by Karolina Grabowska on Pexel…

She was tired

Of the facade

The false smiles

Pretending everything

Was okay.

She wrote

Out her pain

In a letter

Knowing I saw

The pain

Even behind

The false smiles.

“They diagnosed

Me with depression

I’m not as strong

As you think

Sometimes

I’m downright weak.”

“It takes strength

To admit your weak

I said gently

In a phone call

Following the letter.

“But you must

Know you are

Strong too

To survive all

You have

Been through.”

We had

Always spelled

Our friendship

Out in trust

And it was true
