John Flowers was arrested in Los Angeles on August 17, 1997. It was only then that detectives learned that he was, in reality, a fugitive named Craig Leslie Jacobsen who had fled Florida after being accused of committing battery on a peace officer. Two days later, he made a half-hearted suicide attempt, which resulted in him spending a few days in the infirmary.
