Some Memories Can’t Be Painted in Shades of Gray

The world lost

A great soul,

A son lost his Mother,

A husband lost his wife,

Not even thirty seven

Far to young to die.

A little boy still

Needed his Mother,

A husband still needed

His wife

And I needed

My best friend

Sisters born of

Different parents.

There are the moments

Life moments

Mere words fair

To capture

Even as a poet

Some memories

Can’t be painted

In shades of gray

And there aren’t enough

Words to speak

Of a kindness

That allowed her

To comfort strangers.

And no one

Had a strength like

Her

Life took her
