On a chilly rainy, February Morning in 1997, I went to grab the paper on the front porch, but before the paper could fully be read, at six a.m the phone began to ring, and the news was shocking.
Neal and Brendan were murdered, a brutal scene, a crime that those who knew Neal and Brendan couldn’t make sense of, Neal’s murder was brutal, but even harder to make sense of was Brendan’s murder. A twelve year old boy, who was killed before his Father, he’d been made to watch his son’s murder. His son died a brutal death, Neal was forced to watch, to die knowing that his son had to suffer, and amidst it all, there Corgi likely stayed with Neal and Brendan as Neal lay dying, Brendan had been killed.
Neal was a kind man, long time family friends, Neal, kind gentle Neal, gave me my first laptop computer, because he fully and wholeheartedly supported my dream as a writer. He actually made the trip from his home to deliver, a short time after my High-School graduation, in 1997, 🧑💻 were still an expensive luxury, but he was a generous man.
Brendan was a bright child, at two I remember him reciting the alphabet, writing simple sentences, and being completely comfortable having conversations with adults, he could have been anything, but his life was stolen from him.
I was nineteen when Neal and Brendan were murdered, Brendan was only twelve, and the brutal deaths they endured…
