The Change of Days
Her life changed the day she turned seventeen, in a way she could have never imagined. Kirsten was going to enjoy this warm July afternoon, the afternoon of her birthday with her best friends. Kirsten had several best friends, or those who earned that title, but it was Aerial and Aerial alone who earned the title of soul sisters.
Kirsten and Aerial had been friends for as long as they could remember, and their
Mother’s were best friends. There had been fights over the years, but looking back made them realize how pretty they had been. They had come to realize that friendship was not
something to be taken for granted so they tried not to.
This Summer the Summer of her seventeenth year, her birthday fell on a Saturday, which meant her friends with part time summer jobs would be able to spend the day with her friends. They would probably go to the beach as they had for the four years of Kirsten’s high school life, when her Mother no longer insisted on throwing her parties at home. She appreciated the thought and work behind the parties her Mother threw for her every year up until she turned fourteen, but she also felt she was getting to old for those parties and simply wanted to go and hang out with her friends.
