This year

There are

No bombs

Bursting in the air.

Silence echoes

Once parade lined streets

Where laughter and song

Once filled the air.

There’s something different

About this year

Something that

Will go down

In the Annals of history.

A quiet Independence Day

No large family gatherings

Barbecues or parades.

The flags wave quietly

This year

Waiting until

We can reunite

And unite once

More.
