Slow Recognition

Chapter Thirty Three:

It was a slow process that was easy to get frustrated with, but slowly Rachel was beginning to recognize that she was safe here. My sister began to recall some of the happier memories that I thought were gone forever, making brief conversations from time to time, but she still had a lot of healing to do. We all had healing to do.

”Talia, you were hurt because of me, weren’t you?“ Rachel asked.

“Rachel, all this wasn’t your fault, you had no control over that monster.”

“But you were hurt, because you were looking for me.”

“I don’t regret it from a single second Rachel. You’re home now.”

”But I’m damaged.“

“We are all damaged Rachel.”

Rachel nodded, knowing that what I had said was true. We had all been hurt, but Rachel’s scars were deeper, she had been raped and tortured for years!

”You shouldn’t have been hurt.“

“Rachel, you shouldn’t have been hurt either, what you suffered wasn’t fair.”

“The same is true of what happened to you.”

Nodding, I was grateful that my sister was home and would have suffered everything all over again for her if it…
