They Teach Me
For as long as I can remember I knew two things, I wanted to write and I wanted to work with Children in one way or another. It was a calling ingrained in me, something I always knew I was going to work with Children in some way.
In Highschool I worked with both younger children, and those who were my own age with Disabilities, I worked in a classroom of Kindergarteners, a classroom of Preschool through eight graders, all severely disabled, and volunteered to help out in a Highschool classroom of those with disabilities when I found that I really didn’t need study hall to do my homework, it was done well before then.
These children taught me far more than I could ever teach them though. These children each unique, each with their own challenges taught me a Highschool Senior an important lesson, a child’s worth is never to be judged in the way they learn, because what is far more important is the child’s capacity to love and to be loved.
Now, over twenty years later, I still work with Children in a Church setting, I continue to be amazed by…
