Trapped (Micro-Fiction) Revised

*The challenge was to write a story using these pieces of dialogue “I really can’t stand you.” And “Then why are you still listening to me?” This is what I came up with.

She would be dead by now if looks could kill. She was certain that was what her captor wanted, for her to stop listening so he could kill her. The problem was that he didn’t have an excuse, he could tell his bosses that she wasn’t listening to him.

He tried to break her for three days, a shadow of a man, who did he think he was fooling? There was no hiding who he was from her. A masked man stared at her, Trent, who she had known for a while, but when his true colors emerged, it wasn’t long before she realized what he was capable of, when he had murdered the man in front of her just to show her who was really in control.

“You’ll regret leaving me, Trina.” He said, still a shadow in the darkness, but she wasn’t about to show her fear to him. She was not going to give him that pleasure.

“I can’t stand you Trent, when will you learn. “Trapping me in this room and threatening my life won’t change that.”

“This is so much bigger than you and me.” Trent replied. There are other players at work.”

“I am no idiot, you are behind this, you wanted me to be a part of it, to demonstrate your power. You are not…
