Prologue.

As I paced the cabin floor, I thought about my Uncle Sergei. He was like a father, probably more to me than any other person I had ever known.

Pacing back and forth, I held the small piece of paper, with his shaky hand, not his typical, perfect handwriting, this was a sloppier hurried version of his writing.

I wouldn’t had even come to the cabin, or known anything was amiss, if I hadn’t gotten a criptic text from my Uncle.

Katarina, I need your help come to the cabin.

In reading those words, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was putting myself at risk, yet if my Uncle really needed me, and I didn’t go, I would never be able to forgive myself.

I found the paper, with the note on the formica table my Uncle had picked up a few years prior, at a little shop in a nearby town.

Katarina:

Something has happened to me if you’re reading this. I have felt shadowed for the past few days, at first I thought it was just the noises of the woods, but no animal could do what I saw. The woods should be avoided, especially after dark, something might be out there, and if you are reading this, they have already taken me.
