We Are Broken

A Poem

*Its taken days for me to write this, because honestly like so many others I’ve been struggling with the school shooting in Nashville. I don’t try to get political but we definitely need a deeper family connection in our society.*

We are broken

When we hear

Again and again

Children being

Shot in schools

Death should

Never be the cost

Of education.

We are broken

When Churches

Schools

Temples

Synagogues and

Mosques are targeted

Hatred begats

Hatred.

We are broken

When someone can

Walk into a school

With three guns

Killing six

Three students,

Under ten

And all we can
