We Remember
The Unsung Heroes of 9’11
9/11 saw the worst in humanity and the best of it. We saw how people could come together and destroy and we saw Queen Elizabeth reach out in such a beautiful way, but what of the faces.
We saw nations once at war, united in grief, but what of the quiet heroes, the reluctant ones, thrust into the spotlight, men like Michael Benfante, who on 9’11 became a reluctant hero when he and a coworker John carried a woman in a wheelchair down 68 flights of stairs.
Our hearts broke as we watched a man jump from the towers, his.choice heart wrenching die in an inferno or crushed under the weight of rubble, or jump, I couldn’t imagine the thoughts going on in his mind.
So many died that day, and so many were saved, 40 on flight 93, who fought back against the terrorist, instead of a plane going to the Capital, they…
