We Tattooed Childhood Memories

We tattooed childhood memories
On the deepest corner of our heart.
Every few years going
Back to look back
At the what was.

We drew childhood dreams
On our fingertips
In Crayola Markers
And construction paper
Proudly to be
Displayed on
Refrigerator door.

We let the songs
Of childhood echo
On our lips
Memories of that
Distant, not so distant
Time
When the memories
We made were the things
We cherished
And the people in our
Lives
Wrote hope
On our hearts.

We tattooed childhood memories
On the deepest corner of our hearts.
