We’ve Come Along Way (Or Have We?)
“We stood in the sunshine of her being. Through her inexhaustible giving, we learned to give. Through her faith, we learned the confidence of knowing that peace on Earth is inevitable.” Yolanda King
We’ve come along way
From the days of Segregation
From the days of a person’s
Worth being measured
By how white their skin was.
We’ve come along way from
The Selma marches
And children having
To fight to get the
Education they deserve.
We’ve come along way
From the tears of so many in this nation
From crosses in the yard
And hatred prevailing.
We’ve come along way
Where both Jew and Gentile
Black and white can live
In a society
But have we come far enough?
