Social media such as Tik-Tok is not inherently good, nor is it inherently bad, in-fact there are benefits if we don’t allow ourselves to get sucked into the drama.

In the early days of the pandemic I joined Tik-Tok, for no particular reason, but I could not know then what benefits would come from the app.

I discovered a remarkable woman on the app, a survivor of Auschwitz Birkenau, named Lily Ebert who at 99 is still going strong. Her great Grandson Dov runs her social media accounts, wanting to share Lily’s story, and they do a beautiful job of it.

Lessons like Lily’s are important, they need to get out there because stories like Lily’s are fading. Everyday we grow closer to having these stories fade from our collective memories, but with platforms like Tik-Tok, we are hearing the stories. The younger generations are able to hear these stories in a way they could…
