What We Can Teach Them
Hannah’s Story Continues
“Miss Hannah, what does it feel like to be paralyzed like that?” One of the kids asked, leaving me wondering how the conversation went from Jesus walking on water to paralysis. Even though I wanted the kids to stay on track, I didn’t want to ignore their questions. I understood the importance Of listening to the children, teaching them about Jesus, but also letting them teach us!
“Have your legs ever fallen asleep on a long car ride?” I looked around to see what each child had to say.
“Yes, it feels weird.” The children echoed.
“It can feel like that sometimes, but it can also be painful.”
“I didn’t realize you felt pain.” One of the older students replied.
“Despite the misconception, I feel pain. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.” I said.
”Why, pain isn’t fun.“
“No, of course not, but it acts as a warning that something is wrong.”
The students simply nodded as I returned to the lesson. My focus had to be returned to Jesus and the miracles he had performed. He had walked on water, but he had done so muxh more.
“Did you know that miracles still happen?” I asked. “There are miracles happening every day.”
”Its a miracle your here isnt it?“
”It is, I could have died in The accident.“
“I’m glad you’re here – we would miss you if you weren’t here.”
”Jesus had more for me to do.“ I said, looking out the window, realizing Church had been let out.
“See you next Sunday.”
