What We Didn’t See
I graduated from highschool, in June of 1996, by February of 1997, our friend and his young son were murdered, and in 1999, I got a letter and an encouraging book from a friend, the letter spoke of (A) a classmate and her one time boyfriend, the letter informed me that (A) had committed suicide. A talented artist, he also seemed to be very much a tortured soul, but just a few years out of highschool, I did not think about that, but retrospect is always 20/20.
(A) was quiet, and looking back, there was a sadness about him, a lost soul feel, he wasn’t so much my friend, as my friends boyfriend, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to call him, but I’d say hello if I passed him in the halls or if we we were at a doings I’d talk to him, and he’d share his heart, both my friend and (A) were insanely talented artists, and the friend he was dating at the time was one of the kindest people I know, we don’t have daily contact, life tends to get in the way, but this isn’t about her.
(A) kind of shut himself off to others, again not something i thought much about as a High-School Senior, but looking back he was battling with his demons, unfortunately the demons would win, before he was twenty one.
