When Life Gives You Lemons: Prologue
He Carries Me
Prologue:
I hated the way they stared, and the way they coddled me, trying to protect me from what? Being hurt, that ship had already sailed.
Life isn’t always fair, but that doesn’t lessen the goodness of God, his everlasting grace.
No one could take that from me, or still my faith, not even those who acted as if being paralyzed was my fault, like I had purposely walked into a bullet. And then there were well meaning believers who thought they could pray the paralysis away, it wasn’t that I didn’t believe in the power of prayer, because I did, it was the way some tried to act as if some how not being healed in that moment meant something was wrong with my Faith.
Alessia, I am the only one who truly knows your heart.
I knew the good Lord was speaking those words to my heart. I wasn’t perfect I knew that, but I never thought being shot was some kind of punishment from God. It is in fact the faith in God that allows me to sit here, it has given me the grace I have needed to accept what happened to me.
I was shot, but it was not something I asked for, or caused, but it is something I will live with for the rest of my life. But I am alive, and that is only by the grace of God.
