When Life Throws You A Curve
Lessons from Mimmi
In life, we need guidance, someone to reach out to, and my faith taught me that, but Mimmi taught me how to live Faith over Fear, not to let negative events crush your spirit. In addition, she taught me that living your faith is a process, and turning to Jesus and giving him the reins is an integral part of the process, but we often try to tell Jesus what to do, how to do it.
Today, we live in a society that emphasizes self-help and frowns upon anyone who needs assistance. The way we were created actually encourages us to turn to others. Throughout our lives, we form friendships, build relationships, and try to figure out how everything works. In spite of this, there are some things we are going to need assistance with, such as life-changing events that remind us of the fragility of life.
It is necessary to have something larger than ourselves in our lives and to stop thinking that we control everything in our lives.
During her 35 years of life, Mimmi had experienced abuse, illness, pain, loss, and so much more, but she was never bitter, instead she was thankful. She could have cried out in anger, wallowed in pity, but everyday was a reminder of the gift she had been given, as short as it was, her life, her lessons reverberate, with her son of course, but also with all the lives she had touched.
