When Dreams and Reality Collide

Chapter Nine:

In my dream, Bri was safe and sound at home. It was a dream so vivid, I felt as if I could reach out and hug my little sister.

As soon as I woke up, reality struck, and my heart was crushed once again. My sister was gone, and I was in a new place, a place that should have been a new start for us both, but my sister was gone, and the wheelchair next to my bed reminded me of what happened to me.

Elaine and her family had given me a new start. And I had to believe that my sister would come back to us, that was the Hope I clung too.

After allowing myself a couple of minutes to pull myself together, I slowly got up and dressed, though I was able to get in and out of bed on my own. It was a slow process, but I was grateful I had gained enough upper body strength to do that, but not enough energy was going into taking care of myself, all of my energy was given to finding Bri.

The fact that she didn’t come home every day broke my heart even more. I felt like I failed to protect Brianna from our Mother’s pain. However, I didn’t expect her to do what she did for her next fix.

Despite my attempts to get help before, they didn’t seem to see what I was going through. I was supposed to get help from…
