When the Stars Fade Away
One phone call changes the lives of two sisters and turn worlds upside down
The call came as it always did, everyday for the past ten years at Seven O Clock in the morning.
“ Wake up, sleepy head! “ My little sister would say laughing on the other end of the phone.
“ I’m awake. “ I would reply with a loud yawn and a stretch.
There’s something different about Candy’s voice this day though, like she’s leaving Something unsaid. I had always been able to tell when something was wrong that Candy didn’t want me to know, today was no different. It didn’t matter that we were separated by nearly two thousand miles and three time zones, sisters as close as we were knew when something wasn’t going right with the other.
“ How’s the book coming? “ Candy asked. “ Are you going to be able to meet the deadline? “
I knew that it wasn’t my book that was bothering her. Yes she worried about the work I did, and often bragged to her friend about her sister the author, I had often hear her say I was next Sidney Sheldon. I’d just kind of laugh knowing that was far from the truth. I had talent but I was no Sidney Sheldon.
I tried to think of what to say that would get my sister to tell me what was bothering her. When she was little it was easy all I had to do was threaten…
