When You Can’t Do More
Do What You Can
“A happy life consists not in the absence, but in the mastery of hardships.” — Helen Keller
There are times when even the people we admire most struggle, a reminder that no one should be placed on a pedestal — that’s not to take away what they’ve done, but when we put them on a pedestal we’re probably putting more pressure on them than they need. They’re probably under a lot of pressure.
The lady who started the Food Pantry I volunteer at, one of the most giving people I know, is struggling. I don’t want to get into details because God knows, and that’s what really matters.
As I was talking to this dear friend today, I was surprised to hear her admit that she had been feeling down for some time. Truth be told, I wasn’t surprised she was down, after all, I’ve seen how she deals with the heartbreak, and unfortunately there are some people who treat her badly, but she’s not one who opens up about what she’s going through probably because she sees a lot of people in worse situations everyday.
