Wrapped Up (Flash Fiction)
She sat there watching another episodes of Bones.
If only life could wrap up as neatly as a crime drama, in an hour and answers were found, the bad guys were caught, but that was not life. Oh how she wished it were.
But life did not wrap up neatly in a crime drama, and it wasn’t plotted out neatly like a Kathy Reich’s Novel.
Life could be messy, the innocent hurt, she had been shot, simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and twenty years later she bore the scars, and the guilty party walked free.
Perhaps if she had someone like Brennan or Booth on the case, she had hated Brennan at first, but now she understood her, saw her pain, a character whose life had not always been so neat and happy, a character who though incredibly smart, at times questioned her worth.
Perhaps that is what drew her to this show, she could binge watch it for hours, escaping her own reality for a time.
Someone had tried to make her a victim, had tried to steal her life, but she had refused to die.
She smiled as she thought of how she had fought, how she had refused to die, oh she had played dead at first, but she had survived.
And someday they would catch the monster that did this to her, it wouldn’t be wrapped up as quickly as a television show, but justice would be served. She believed that, she had too, because she still believe in things like justice, and the good in people, despite everything that happened to her.
