Writing Quotes to Live By
We all Need a Little Motivation sometimes.
One of my favorite quotes by Robert Frost is the one I am going to share first. In it we are reminded of the importance of letting the reader feel what we felt when we wrote the particular story, poem, essay, scene or whatever the case maybe.
“No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.”
— Robert Frost
And this one by Sidney Sheldon reminds us that God uses the blank page to remind us on a fraction of the scale of how hard it was for God to create from scratch. He shaped Adam from the dirt in the ground, and Eve from the Rib of Adam.
“A blank piece of paper is God’s way of telling us how hard it is to be God.”
— Sidney Sheldon
Rainer Maria Rilke reminds us that we all have our reasons to write, and we should search for ours, if it’s for anything less than passion maybe we shouldn’t consider it our calling.
“Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depth of your heart; confess to yourself you would have to die if you were forbidden to write.”
― Rainer Maria Rilke
