You Write Out Pain and Praise

For World Poetry Day

Write your heart

Pour out your soul

Words on the page

Bleed with deep

Meaning

Or just casual

Clips

Of a life led

The struggles are real

Some scoff

Look at you

And say

What’s the meaning

Anyway

Poetry doesn’t pay

Write a script

Write anything

But a few stanzas on

A page.

But you write

Those lines

Knowing to you

They carry more

Meaning

Than the

Script

To the latest

Hollywood

Film.

So you write

Out pain and praise

On scattered pages

Words that both

Hurt and heal

And when someone

Reads those words

And gets the message

You know that’s better

Than a thousand

Accolades!
